Questions for consideration before you do anything...

You need to ask yourself, a few important questions:

1. Why am I renovating?

a. For resale (sell within 3 years)
Your decisions here are largely financial investment ones.

b. For my own short term occupation (sell in 3-5 years)
Your decisions here are fairly subjective, they depend on how you see your own enjoyment compared with the investment value of what you are doing.

c. For my own long term occupation (not intending to sell, -- say 5 years+)
The project has now become a lifestyle choice, and as such it should primarily be done to suit you and give you enjoyment

2. As the saying goes, "Do I live to cook?". Or, "Do I cook to live"?
Obviously if you are a very keen and enthusiastic cook, you will probably opt for better appliances and fittings in your kitchen, than if you only cook because you have to...

3. How old is my family, are we neat tidy people?
4. Is the room small or large, light or dark? Does it face North, South, East or West?
5. How many doors and windows do we have?
6. Is my space long and narrow, or a big open area?
7. If I want an eye level oven, is there enough wall space to accommodate one, without leaving myself with too little bench space?
8. My back is not as good as it used to be, so should I use fittings that roll out to me?
10. Do we like to sit at a table as a family, or do we eat and run, using a breakfast bar of some sort?
These and many more questions need to be answered if you are to achieve a kitchen that works for you.

At lets talk kitchens we want you to be able to look back after 12 months, and be able to say, "I'm glad we did that". That's the proof of the "pudding", as they say.
